There’s nothing like a good sitcom! On TV, community is often framed as full of fun, adventures, and very little conflict. Yet the reality is, community doesn’t always look like what it does on the shows and movies. In fact, in a generation of isolation and self-sufficiency, it can be easy to believe that friendships and community aren’t needed. When we believe the lie that relationships don’t matter and that we’re better off by ourselves, we can fall into the trap of living out of design. Yet this month, the focus is on growing in learning that we need one another. Although people can be difficult at times, God made all of us to do life within the community. Because it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18), no matter what comes, through the ups and downs, through the good and bad, we’re designed to do life with others.
