Osadcha Family #HelpingYouHelpUkraine #ToUkraineWithLove You can help a Ukrainian Family have a home. Learn More: https://toukrainewithlove.org/homes/ Transcript You can see where it hit. It was hard for me. I started serving in the military beginning in 2022. It was hard to be at war knowing that your family lost a house. I didn't see my family for over a year. This house was built in 1974. I was born in 1976. I was born in this house. Together with my husband we renovated or restored parts of it. We built a second level and took care of it. I inherited this house from my father. The day at the recruitment office was very difficult for me. It was hard to say goodbye to my family. As soon as the war started I made the decision to join the army. I had no hesitation about it. My wife wasn't against my decision because she knew I had to go and defend our children. I was firm in my decision to defend the future of my children and others. Every day that passed that I was still alive was a great relief. On February 28th, 2022 the Russians started shelling. There were around six “Grad” rockets that hit our town. One rocket hit the house. The wall here was demolished. We all were on our way to the cellar. My wife and I were almost at the entrance. Our granny was trying to go down the cellar stairs. The cellar was under the rubble of the house. We evacuated on the 28th of February. It was the day of a big shelling when the house caught on fire and the walls fell. We had no other choice but to evacuate. These are little pieces of death. After the explosion the fragments flew all over. These fragments destroyed everything in their path. On its way rocket fragments penetrate through you. This is the way the Russian invaders killed a lot of civilians. This is what these Russians are capable of. My hobby was numismatics. I started collecting coins when I was 13. Before the war started I had over 3,000 coins in my collection. In addition there was a collection of banknotes (paper money). Here is what is left from the collection. The temperature of the fire was so high that everything melted. Every metal melted, even the steel, copper, and brass. These coins are just fragments but they are the only ones that survived from the entire collection. I kept them for my memories. It’s a memory from my past life. Life has been divided into two periods: before and after the war. A lot of things are put into perspective. I feel like a part of me has died inside. When you go to the frontlines you live one day at a time. I don't share it with my wife or anyone else. It will always stay with me. My task, together with my brothers, is to expel this evil from our motherland Ukraine. I will do everything I can to make this happen. You can’t imagine our emotions when we first saw the house. Thank you so much! When you take the first step inside you are overwhelmed with warmth and kindness. Our goal: Help You Help Ukraine You want to help. We know where and how. Its simple.
